Lifted aromas of ripe cherries and spice lead this wine. The palate is soft and generous with delicate primary fruit characters of wild berries shadowed by subtle toasty oak.

The late Greg Trott saw many of his unusual dreams realised at Wirra Wirra. Yet one vision eluded him - to build a medieval siege machine, or trebuchet. Why? To use as a catapult to bomb neighbouring wineries with bottles of wine of course. This wine is part of a range, the RGT collection which remembers the pioneering spirit of Richard Gregory Trott.

Planted in 1972, the Scrubby Rise vineyards at Wirra Wirra sit on ancient rocks more than 100,000 years old. The fact that they are totally flat and contain no 'scrub' or bush whatsoever was of more interest to the late Greg Trott, who gave them their dubious name. As one might call a redhead 'Bluey' or a tall man 'Shorty', Trott drew on traditional Aussie humour to make the point that we shouldn't take life too seriously. Be dedicated to your task he said, but everything else should be fun. That's a philosophy they aspire to at Wirra Wirra, as they raise a glass of this classic McLaren Vale shiraz.

Pure and elegant, Wither Hills Chardonnay showcases cool climate characters of fresh lime and white peach with French oak nuances. We make some fantastic Chardonnay here in Marlborough and it's a wine I drink in any season - in the sunshine with a cheese platter and great company, or rugged up with a winter warming risotto. Fruit for our Early Light range of wines is harvested early to capture optimum flavour ripeness whilst reducing the levels of naturally occurring sugar. This lower level of sugar means less alcohol is converted resulting in a lighter in alcohol style of wine.
