Smoking Loon The Original Old Vine Zinfandel is a striking deep, inky purple colour in the glass. Aromas of ripe raspberry, black cherry, peppercorn and toasted coconut lift from the glass. This rich, medium-bodied wine is full of flavour with loads of fresh red fruits; raspberry, pomegranate and a healthy dose of that classic Zinfandel spice. This is a bold wine with good structure and lively acidity making it a perfect match for any type of BBQ.

Lifted aromas of red cherry and raspberry are complemented by clove and lavender on the nose.

The soil of this appellation is composed of clay and limestone and benefits from an oceanic and temperate climate. Limited yields, hand tending, careful selection and minimal interference during the natural ripening of the grapes. The nose is rich and develops intense aromas of black fruits (plum, cherry, blackberry) with spicy notes (cinnamon, pepper). Fruity and delicious on the palate, the tannins are supple with a long finish. Ideal with red meats, dishes in sauce and cheese.

Neroperso is a tribute to the century old method of the "appassimento" - drying of the grapes: a wine that speaks of people, legends and cultures lost over time. Neroperso pays homage to a century old winemaking method that was widely practiced in Veneto little has changed since ancient times. After harvest, the best grapes undergo a drying process for 60 days (a process called "appassimento") until each grape is dried out concentrating its taste and aromas of ripe fruit.

Aromas of strawberry, plum and blueberries with hints of charry oak. Palate shows bright juicy fruit, which is soft and round with gentle chalky tannins. Dual appellation - McLaren Vale and Barossa.

The concentration is remarkable for this price bracket, and the combination of indigenous varieties with a seasoning of Bordeaux favourites brings the wine a complexity which almost comes as a surprise after its aromatic sweetness. It's a wine from evidently propitious vineyards - about which we will surely hear more in future.
