Joe Babich favours 'a fuller, riper, softer style of Sauvignon Blanc'. It's not a jump out of the glass style, but the wines develop well. The latest releases reflect a rising input of grapes from the company's Cowslip Valley vineyard in the Waihopai Valley, which gives less herbaceous fruit characters that it's other Marlborough vineyards. This smooth wine features strong, ripe flavours of melons and limes, moderate acidity and a rounded, rich finish - great drinkability and well regarded all over the world.

In the Province range, Astrolabe emphasises the varietal intensity created by Marlborough's leafy vineyards, ripe fruit and cool-climate winegrowing conditions. This wine presents with ripe green flavours like passionfruit, blackcurrant leaf and gooseberry. In the palate, it is full and round and finishes dry and lingering. A drier style of Sauvignon Blanc, acidity kept nicely in balance with the alcohol and the very little residual sugar that is there, so it's all about how all these things come together to make a pleasurable whole. Astrolabe craft their wines so that nothing stands out as one singular spike, instead revealing a lovely layering of flavours and aromas that people can keep finding as they spend time savouring the glass.

Refreshing passion fruit and grapefruit aromas interplay with green notes of capsicum and fresh herbs. On the palate, citrus, blackcurrant and tropical fruit flavours fill the palate to create a wine that's gracious with a deliciously crisp, dry finish. This aromatic Sauvignon Blanc shows classic Marlborough purity, with wonderful acidity.

Intensely aromatic with ripe passionfruit and more subtle delicate flavours of lemongrass, fennel and elderflower. The wine shows great concentration and drive, with a textural mid palate framed by succulent juicy bright acidity. The majority of fruit was cool fermented in stainless steel, with a small component of barrel fermented wine blended in for texture.

Fresh, zesty, juicy and full, this fruit-driven new world style wine will excite the senses without the racy overload. Tropical fruit with a fresh herbaceous character balanced with zesty passionfruit and a dry finish. A crisp refreshing wine, that shows the true terroir characters of the soils and area it comes from. Vegan friendly.
