First made in 1982, Awatea continues to represent the best of the classic Hawke's Bay Cabernets/Merlot blend. Floral aromas with intense blackberry, currant and dark plum flavours lead to a rich, supple palate with a sustained finish. Awatea will continue to evolve in bottle for ten years from harvest.

The vines of Château des Laurets are spread over two neighbouring appellations: Montagne-Saint-Émilion and Puisseguin-Saint-Émilion. The vineyards are planted on south-facing slopes with limestone outcrops. The excellent clay-limestone soil gives this Merlot-based Saint-Émilion wine its distinctive taste. The 2017, bottled in July 2019, has a rather intense ruby red colour. The first impression on the nose offers a subtle blend of black fruit aromas with a dominant of blackcurrant. The mouth reveals a frank and assumed structure directed all in length, no excessive opulence in this vintage all in 'lace'. The aromas of fresh and crisp fruit give the wine a juicy side, all well chiselled by an already well-integrated woodiness. As is often the case at Château des Laurets, the small, spicy notes on the finish perfectly enhance the lovely tension of the overall. On the palate, this wine reveals itself as a masterful play between savoury and sweeter fruit elements. Earthy forest floor flavours provide a grounding base, brambles and cola notes weave their way. Cherries and mulberries emerge, blending seamlessly with clove spice. This Pinot Noir boasts impressive length on the palate, where toasted chestnuts and pine nuts impart a subtle richness to the flavour profile. Lively quartz-like acidity punctuates each sip, ensuring vibrancy throughout; meanwhile, silky tannins contribute to a smooth mouthfeel.

Graham's Tawny Port offers a fine balance of fruitiness and nuttiness, derived from ageing in casks. A very versatile style of Port, suitable for drinking on any occasion. Reddish tawny colour, with ripe fruit aromas nicely balanced by hints dried fuits, and on the palate slightly dry, elegant and smooth.

The Bannockburn Pinot Noir is Carrick's flagship wine and known for its structure and ability to age well over a long period of time. It has a lovely aroma with notes of fresh blackberries, raspberry coulis and vanilla. It's complex and layered on the palate, the tannins are soft and build, alongside notes of wood smoke, leather and black pepper. It's long and powerful, with plenty of years ahead of it to gather further detail.

Aromas of orange blossom, nectarine and fresh nutmeg combine with delicate layers of subtly integrated oak, fine minerality and ripe citrus fruit flavours. Delicate elegance underpins this finely textured wine which reflects Peregrine's commitment to organic wine growing on the Bendigo sub region that contribute to this Chardonnay.

A fuller bodied Chardonnay balanced by gentle, fresh acidity and a spine of slate-like minerality. Fresh zesty citrus and citrus blossom notes are to the fore with riper, richer stonefruit underlying and providing extra depth. The fruit is overlaid with complexities of roasted nuts, toasted brioche, and a hint of struck flint and gun smoke. Already drinking exceptionally well, with age the wine will develop more complex, savoury nuttiness and will gain breadth and richness on the palate.

The grapes for this prestigious Primitivo do not get harvested once ripe, but are left on the vine so that their ripening can go on. After about 15 days, grapes are over-ripened and dry out directly on the vine, giving a Primitivo with a complex bouquet of red fruits, raisins and clear hints of marasca cherry. Aged in barriques this Primitivo Appassimento Rinforzato is a wine which remains in your memory for its strong character and great personality.

On the nose, a core of dark berry fruit is overlaid with fragrant violet, rose, exotic spice and hints of cracked pepper whilst subtle, savoury oak adds complexity and a chocolate-like richness. The palate is full but finely structured with excellent persistence and focus coming from balanced acidity and ripe tannins.

Ruby port is all about youthful fruit and flavour intensity, and this port delivers perfectly. The nose is ripe and lifted displaying blackberry, raisin and spice characters. The palate is supple and rich with fine tannins and a lovely warm alcohol finish.
